
Amitahb Bachchan
Early Life
Amitahb Bachchan was born in India in 1942. His father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, was a Hindi poet, and his mother, Teji Bachchan, was a Sikh from Punjab. Amitabh’s grandfather, Khushi Ram Bachchan, was a Jain from Rajasthan. Amitabh did his schooling from Sherwood College, Nainital and later went on to pursue a degree in science from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi. However, he quit studies after his second year to pursue a career in acting.
Amitahb Bachchan Early Career
Amitabh made his acting debut in the 1969 film “Saat Hindustani”. His performance earned him a Filmfare Award for Best Newcomer. He went on to star in several successful films such as “Zanjeer”, “Sholay”, “Deewaar” and “Chupke Chupke”. Amitabh’s performance in the film “Black” earned him a National Film Award for Best Actor.
Career
In 1982, Amitabh Bachchan underwent surgery for a life-threatening abdominal injury sustained during the filming of “Coolie”. He made a successful recovery and returned to acting. Amitabh has worked in over 190 films in a career spanning more than four decades. He has been honoured with several awards, including the Padma Shri, the Padma Bhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Amitabh Bachchan was also conferred with the Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
He is also a recipient of the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award and the National Film Award for Best Actor. Amitabh Bachchan was honoured with the prestigious Legion d’Honneur by the government of France in 2007. In 2013, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s second highest civilian award, by the Government of India.

Amitahb Bachchan is a private person. He does not share much about his personal life with the public. Amitabh Bachchan was born on October 11, 1942, in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. His father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, was a Hindi poet, and his mother, Teji Bachchan, was a Sikh from Lahore. Amitabh has two brothers, Ajitabh and Amitabh. Amitabh’s father died when he was just three years old. Amitabh’s mother took him and his brothers to live with her parents in Delhi. Amitabh’s grandfather, Chunni Lal Gauri Shankar, was a tehsildar (a land revenue officer) in the Imperial Civil Service. Amitabh’s grandmother, Bachchani Devi, was a homemaker. Amitabh’s grandfather died when Amitabh was thirteen years old. Amitabh’s grandmother died when Amitabh was nineteen years old.
